In 2004, Imation develop the new state-of-the-art “Tera Angstrom” technology, which features advanced tape manufacturing processes and metal particulate formulation. Tera Angstrom technology helps to produce a highly robust tape film with a uniform coating layer, increased track density and smooth surface. This helps to increase SNR (signal to noise) ratio and stabilizes the tape movement during heavy duty cycles. Smooth medium of Imation LTO-5 tape prevents tape slippage, reduces media wear and accelerates the file searching process. Consistent signal strength helps to further increase the operational efficiency and reduces the error rate.
