On my 18 years birthday, my parents especially held a theme party for me. All of my close friends and relatives had been invited my home to celebrate my historical moment at that time.
As a young guy at the age of 18, such is human nature that I am more likely to care about the birthday presents than the theme party itself, a bit shy but hardly to admit it, I even specifically made a detailed list for gifts: two authentic wireless headphones made in Japan, a cute and top torch in the shape of Kung Fu Panda, a crystal- like speaker as well as a E-book produced by China…honestly speaking, among them, I thought that E-book can be termed as my favorite birthday present, then you may ask that for what kind of reason I love that E-book so much? Well, that is a long story: here I wouldn’t mind telling you guys one of my free time hobbies: I found it is pretty funny to indulge myself into all kinds of good books throughout a whole day, especially reading those famous English and American literatures, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin, Yong Goodman Brown writing by Hawthorne; Wuthering Height by Emily Bronte as well as Of Study by Franks Bacon, seems like that, with the help of aforementioned E-books, from now on, I can read any of download materials at any places and any place , say , the quite park in the noontime; the morning school bus ; the Starbuck coffee hall at night……wow, that is amazing even thought of it.
Honestly speaking, I never fail to fascinate with various sorts of amazing literatures. Among them, it definitely worth mentioning for: I am a big fan of Romantic period literature. Why I so crazy about it ? Well, I dare to say romantic period is such a splendid time at a overall literature history, too much superstars light on the sky of Romantic time, namely , Christopher Marlow, William Shakespeare, John Melton, Franks Bacon , John Done.
Here I would like to give a brief introduction of my idol, John Donne, the most outstanding metaphysical poet, I am too familiar with the writings of this poet genius , The Sun Rising ; Death , be not proud, just name it!
John Donne is writer who skillfully using satire, metaphor as well as rich imagination into his poets that is why always involves a certain kind of argument, sometimes in rigid syllogistic form.
He seems to be speaking to a imagined hearer, raising the topic and trying to persuade, convince or upbraid him. This method has being well reflected in his masterpiece, The Sun Rising, in this poem, the “country ants” may imply an allusion to the old fable of the ants and the grasshopper. With the brief and simple language, the argument is continuous throughout the poem, strangely, always, it begin with a certain idea but end with the quite opposite viewpoint.
