As tablet PC and mobile phones can handle more and more tasks which were accomplished by PC, the dominant position of Microsoft Windows is currently facing the most outstanding challenge.
Windows had 15 years of history and still vital importance to Microsoft’s future. Last year Windows gained of 19 billion US dollar sales revenue and 12.3 billion US dollar profit, which is about half of the Microsoft’s operating earnings. But now the sales volume of Windows last two quarters downturned.

Microsoft thought the part reason of low sales was that the PC demands had turned to developing countries like China with high piracy rate. And piracy made Microsoft earned little in each PC sold in these countries. On the other side, as the Google Android tablet PC swarmed in to the market, it is harder for Microsoft to maintain its market share.
Confronting the sales decline, Microsoft wants to reboot the sales growth with the next version of Windows (Win8). This new designed version of operation system can be better to work on the touch control tablet PC. And it is going to list on to the market early in autumn of next year.
